Hon. (Chief) Albert Akintoye: A Grassroots Mobilizer, and the Electoral Edge He Brings to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa
In the rich political tapestry of Ondo State and Nigeria at large, few figures stand as tall and influential as Hon. (Chief) Albert Akintoye, SOT. A former representative of Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency, his journey from grassroots politics to the corridors of power reflects a profound connection with the people, built not just through financial influence but genuine service and development.
While many politicians rely on money to sway the electorate, often neglecting meaningful progress, Hon. (Chief) Akintoye offers a different model. Though he is known for his generosity, his ability to inspire loyalty and influence without relying solely on financial means sets him apart. His extensive work in community empowerment has cemented his role as a true people's leader.

Recently, I had the privilege of accompanying the former Irele Council Chairman on a visit to Akotogbo, his hometown, alongside the Ikale East Council Chairman. There, the purpose was clear: rallying support for Governor Aiyedatiwa in the upcoming November 16 gubernatorial election. What I witnessed was nothing short of remarkable.Hon. Akintoye, the Oke-nla of Ikale land, has empowered and uplifted more individuals than any local government leader in the area’s history. This is not just hearsay; the records are there to verify at the council office. Even during periods when he wasn’t in office, his connection with his people remained unbreakable.
Another milestone in Hon. Akintoye's career came during the heated political climate of 2010/2011, when "Power" clashed with the "Gbasibe" slogan. As a key political figure aligned with the late Governor Olusegun Agagu of the PDP, Hon. Akintoye was already a well-loved leader within his constituency. Despite significant opposition, his influence was so strong that he successfully won the election, becoming the only representative from the opposition in his region—a testament to his political acumen and grassroots connection.

While no political journey is without its challenges, Hon. Akintoye's victories far outnumber his setbacks. His contributions have left an indelible mark, establishing him as a political heavyweight both within and outside Ondo State. As the Otunba of Ore Kingdom, his mastery of power and purpose continues to make him a significant force in the state's political landscape.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, known for his keen ability to recognize and harness political talent, undoubtedly saw the value in appointing Hon. Akintoye as his Senior Special Assistant on Election Matters. This strategic move has already sent shockwaves through the opposition, as they know firsthand the strength Hon. Akintoye brings to any campaign.

As November 16 approaches, Hon.
Akintoye, alongside the APC campaign council, is set to solidify the governor's re-election efforts. For the opposition, many of whom once counted Hon. Akintoye as an ally, the writing on the wall is clear—either they align with the ruling party or prepare for a different political reality come 2029.
